Waxwing (Bombycilla garrula)
Todays image is one that I’m very pleased with. I have to confess that Waxwings are my favourite winter visitor to the UK, I just think that they are absolutely stunning. I was checking out the Dorset Bird Club sightings page this morning and noticed that 5 Waxwings had been reported at Winchester Close in Weymouth for the past few days, so I decided to head over to see if I could get some photos.
I was pleasantly surprised, the birds allowed a very close approach, and didn’t seem in the slightest bit bothered by people walking close to where they were feeding.
The light wasn’t brilliant, and so I upped the ISO a bit, but I managed to grab a few decent shots before the birds departed, and this is my favourite of today.
