This afternoon, I found a very obliging Speckled Wood Butterfly (Pararge aegeria) in the garden, and managed to get a few decent shots.
I’ve just about finished processing the images that I shot at the Bournemouth Air Festival on Saturday 30th August.
I absolutely love going to the Bournemouth Air Festival, because if you arrive early enough to secure a spot on the top of East Cliff you end up looking straight into the cockpit of the aircraft when they do their low speed passes.
Here are the best of my shots.
The Hawker Hunter Miss Demeanour has a truly striking paint job, and is my second favourite aircraft.
The Avro Vulcan XH558 has been my favourite aircraft since I first saw it fly at the 2008 Farnborough Air Show, and it flew again at Bournemouth this year.
The Red Arrows put on a wonderful show.
This is the first year that I’ve managed to make it to the Dusk Air flights, and I’m really glad that I did as Brendan O’Briens Flying Circus was spectacular.
Whilst driving home from a job in Essex today, I passed a large number of caravans on the M25 and it got me wondering.
Why do some caravans have such inappropriate names?
On the way home today I saw the following.
Is it to make them sound more exciting than they actually are, because they are certainly not a 17th century pirate or “moving or capable of moving at high speed” although cars towing trailers and caravans were overtaking me on the motorway when I was doing about 70mph, which considering the last time I checked the top speed limit for a car towing a caravan or trailer was 60mph (even on dual carriageways and motorways), which was bloody annoying, especially as a couple of them were beginning to sway although the drivers seemed blissfully unaware of this.
Don’t get me wrong, I used to go caravanning with my folks when I was between 5 and 14, and enjoyed it immensely, but as I’ve got older I’ve obviously turned into a bit of a curmudgeon, especially when I’m stuck behind one on a single carriageway road or when they pass me doing more than 70.
Sorry for the rant, but I’ve had a bad day :o(.
End of Rant.
